Sociodemographic and Medical Characteristics of Women Applied for Emergency Contraception-A Retrospective Observational Study.

Background: Lifestyle factors significantly impact overall health. Our aim was to assess reproductive health awareness among patients who applied for emergency contraceptive pills. Methods: This present retrospective observational study between July 2021 and September 2021 is embedded in the MEEC (Motivation and Epidemiology of Emergency Contraceptive Pill) based on the study cohort of a Hungarian data bank containing follow-up data of 447 women who applied for EC telemedicine consultation. Collected data: age, history of previous pregnancy, lifestyle factors like smoking, alcohol consumption, sexual characteristics: partner consistency and protection during intercourse, cervical cancer screening within the past 2 years, previous HPV screening, and the preference for future contraceptive methods. The investigation also compiled accurate data on intercourse (elapsed time to request a medical consultation). Lifestyle factors were scored. Results: The more health-conscious patients were quicker to report for a post-event pill. Earlier pregnancies and older age were associated with greater reproductive health awareness. Conclusions: Reproductive health awareness is increased by previous pregnancies and older age. More health-conscious women consult a doctor earlier, which can reduce the chance of various health damage. Our study emphasizes the significance of lifestyle factor influence on reproductive health decisions.

Best original research presented at the 24th European Congress on Gynaecological Oncology-Best of ESGO 2023.

The 'Best of ESGO 2023' manuscript comprises a compilation of the best original research presented during the European Society of Gynaecologic Oncology annual congress held in Istanbul between September 28 and October 1, 2023. Out of 1030 submitted abstracts, 33 studies presented during the Best Oral Sessions, Mini Oral Sessions, and Young Investigator Session were selected by the ESGO Abstract Committee and the European Network of Young Gynae Oncologists (ENYGO) authors. There was a strong focus on surgical de-escalation, immunotherapy, maintenance therapy, and molecular profiling in gynecologic oncology. With this manuscript, ENYGO and ESGO aim to disseminate the valuable research results to readers interested in our field.

["Epinephrine-addiction" and risk-seeking behaviour in athletes: what realities?]. / "Adrénaline-addiction" et comportements de prises de risques chez les sportifs: quelles réalités?

This article resumes the psychobiologic mechanisms involved in risk-seeking behaviour. The question is discussed whether some forms of high risk sports meet the diagnostic criteria of dependency. The intensive activation of the adrenocorticotropic pathway may yield to addiction: according to the model of emotion-focussed coping of stress, unpleasant emotion is "overwritten" by intense stress and hence better tolerated emotionally, leading to an addictive repetition of risk-seeking behaviour. In addition, pharmacologic mimicry seems possible as the perception of effects of catecholamines may imitate some of the effects of stimulating drugs. Finally, the current concept of risk and harm reduction is transferred to sports. This would mean to apply appropriate preventive interventions for a large variety of possibly dangerous activities.
